Attack on Pakistan’s Nuclear Sites

July 20, 2009

The Indians working with their allies in the karzai government have designed a foolproof plan to attack Pakistani nuclear sites using hired terrorists. They think they can pull it off and permanently damage Pakistan’s standing internationally and hasten calls for denuclearizing Pakistan.

India has paid terrorist leader Baitullah Mehsud and his well armed and trained terrorist army around U.S. $ 25 million to mount a spectacular attack on a major Pakistani nuclear site. A special force of around 500 recruits has been assembled and trained to mount the operation that is supposed to shock the world. The purpose is to create an event that will create a global media scare and convince the world of the need for military intervention in Pakistan. Another objective is to neutralize voices of reason within the U.S. government that believe Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal is secure.

The bulk of the terrorists in the special 500-strong force put together by Mehsud have been trained inside Afghanistan by trainers suspected of having links to the Indian intelligence, RAW. Although most of the recruits are expected to be Pakistanis from Mehsud’s tribe, an unknown number of Afghan and Indian elements with special operations training have been inserted in the Mehsud group in order to ensure the success of this high profile operation.

This latest disclosure of a plan to attack the nuclear sites has raised alarm bells within the Pakistani defense circles. A rough sketch of the plan and how the attack(s) are expected to unfold goes as follows:

1. A team or several teams of terrorists attack one or more Pakistani nuclear sites and attempt to enter the facilities.

2. Within each crack team only a small core is supposed to be equipped with modern communications equipment, special operations gear, and modern weapons; highly trained to enforce maximum damage.

3. Where possible, the terrorists plan to break in and hold the fort, a la Mumbai false-flag attacks, in order to generate maximum media coverage and embarrassment for Pakistan.

4. The international media, and especially the main American and British news outlets, turn this into a global crisis, comparable to the Bay of Pigs in 1962.

5. The event generates enough pressure to justify an ‘international demand’ to neutralize Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal and force Pakistan to accept ‘international’ supervision.

6. Depending on the aftermath, and after a few days or weeks, a small nuclear weapon is used somewhere, maybe against the US military or NATO bases in Afghanistan since it would be difficult to do it anywhere else, in order to confirm that the Afghan Taliban or generally the ‘Islamic extremists’ managed to steal a weapon from the earlier attack(s) on Pakistani sites.

This last point is critical. According to the available information, the mysterious disappearance of a senior Indian nuclear scientist and his subsequent death in May is linked to at least some parts of this plan. The scientist, Mr. Lokanathan Mahalingam, 47, had access to Indian’s sensitive nuclear information and worked at the prestigious Kaiga Atomic Power Station in the southern Indian state Karnataka, close to Project Seabird, a major Indian military base.

His disappearance received limited coverage in the Indian media and there was almost a blackout on the circumstances surrounding how his dead body was found in a lake. The media in the U.S. and Britain also ignored the story . It is believed that Mr. Mahalingam was either involved in or had some knowledge about the planning for securing a small nuclear weapon that would leave no fingerprints, to put it this way, in order to execute the idea mentioned above.

On 16 May, the Israeli security website Debka under a story titled, ‘Singh warns Obama: Pakistan is lost,’ reported the following:

“India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has told President Obama that nuclear sites in Pakistan’s restive frontier province are “already partly” in the hands of Islamic extremists.”

The Times of India, reporting the story , complained about “Washington’s misplaced confidence in, and [careless] approach towards, Pakistan’s nuclear assets,” and grumbled that “Pakistan is ramping up its nuclear arsenal even as the rest of the world is scaling it down.”

The Indian interest is obvious. But so is the Israeli interest. It is quite revealing that the story was broken by a news outlet known in international circles for its links to the Israeli government. Official circles in Washington, including the White House, the State Department, Pentagon and CIA are cognizant of a history of cooperation between India and Israel in security issues. India’s security establishment is largely focused on Pakistan and on controlling Kashmir where the local population is fighting the Indian military. At least in one incident, during the limited Pakistan-India war in 1999, the Israelis directly intervened to help the battered Indian army overturn a tactical victory by Pakistani and Kashmiri fighters.

As recently as two days ago, Bruce Riedel, a former CIA analyst and an Obama adviser known for his strong anti-Pakistan views, wrote an article published at the Brookings Institute website that demonstrates how far the anti-Pakistan lobby is willing to go to prove that Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal is not safe.

In Mr. Riedel’s case, he went as far as lying.

He used a recent terrorist attack on a bus carrying employees of KRL, a Pakistani nuclear facility, to say that Pakistani nuclear sites are already under attack. What he conveniently ignored is that the said bus was in fact traveling through a densely populated part of the city and not anywhere near any nuclear site.

Mr. Singh came on record during an interview with CNN in 2005 to say this:

“I am worried about the security of Pakistan’s nuclear assets should President Pervez Musharraf be replaced, since there is always the danger of Islamic militants seizing power and taking control of the country’s nuclear assets.”

There is a mountain of evidence that influential parts of the Indian government are involved in exporting terrorism into Pakistan from bases inside Afghanistan. And now there are reports of an impending attack on Pakistan’s nuclear facilities using Baitullah Mehsud.

Any attack on Pakistani nuclear facilities in the coming days will be construed as a declaration of war by india against Pakistan. Knowing of mehsud’s previous contacts with indians and with karzai’s people, any miscalculated attempt by his terrorists will not be seen as anything less than a direct indian attack. In this case, Pakistan will consider itself in a state of war, and retaliate accordingly.

Slumdog Millionaire — The Real Face of india

February 12, 2009

British movie “Slumdog Millionaire” emerged as the big winner at the 66th Golden Globes ceremony, scooping four awards to underline its credentials ahead of next month’s Oscars.

Director Danny Boyle’s blockbuster, based on the novel Q and A by Indian author and diplomat Vikas Swarup, bagged the awards for best drama, musical score, young actor and screenplay.

There is a great jubilation in India since the movie is set in Mumbai.

The story revolves around Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India’s “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much?

Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show’s questions. Each chapter of Jamal’s increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show’s seemingly impossible quizzes.

Indian elation at the Golden Globe Awards and success at the Academy awards are misplaced. Danny Boyle’s Indian co-director, Loveleen Tandan, may be considered bold, but the duo has exposed the real ugliness of India. This is a sample of what this film reveals: The extremist Hindu mobs lynching ghetto Muslims, the underworld kidnapping children orphaned as a result of their organized pogroms, castrating the Muslim boys, forcibly teaching them Hindu Bhajans and turning them into beggars while selling Muslim girls to brothels.

All of these instances in Slumdog Millionaire depict the sordid and gory side of India, which its regular Bollywood producers hide under the sheen and glamour of “shining India”. Muslims in India, whom the movie highlights through the central character, are downtrodden and suffer the most among its minorities. Their squalid state was exposed through a national survey.

The seven-member Sachar committee Report, headed by former Delhi High Court Chief Justice Rajindar Sachar, commissioned by Indian Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh in March 2005, was tabled before the Indian Lok Sabha on 30 November 2006. The Sachar report reveals the appalling state of Muslims in India in the socio-economic and educational fields and concluding that their status is worse-off than the Dalits and the Adivasis (tribals). In urban areas, the report shows that Muslims mostly live in slums characterised by poor municipal infrastructure.

The salient features of the Sachar Committee report are:

· Like Slumdog’s protagonist, 94.9 per cent of Muslims are in Below Poverty Line (BPL); families in rural areas do not receive free food grains.

· While only 3.2 per cent of Muslims get subsidized loans, just 1.9 per cent of the community benefit from the Antyodaya Anna Yojana Scheme, a programme meant to prevent starvation among the poorest of poor by providing food grains at a subsidized rate.

· 60.2 per cent of Muslims do not have any land in rural areas.

· Just 2.1 per cent of Muslim farmers have tractors. With 15,25,000 tractors, India ranks No.4 after US, Japan and Italy

· A mere 1 per cent own hand pumps.

· On the educational front, the picture is equally dismal: 54.6 per cent Muslims in villages and 60 per cent in urban areas have never attended schools.

· Only 0.8 per cent of Muslims in rural areas are graduates.

· Although in urban areas, nearly 40 per cent of the Muslims now receive modern education, only 3.1 per cent of the community in urban areas is graduates. Just 1.2 per cent is post-graduates.

· Muslim population growth has slowed down as fertility has declined substantially; the growth rate for Muslims is bound to fall further and eventually reach a zero growth stage well before the end of the century.

· Muslims are altogether excluded from “sensitive” posts such as jobs in the intelligence agencies, especially the external-espionage Research & Analysis Wing, the National Security Guard and other elite protection forces. Their presence in the top national police and paramilitary agencies is nominal.

· However, there is one place where Muslims are over-represented: prisons. Muslims claim a grossly disproportionate share of prisoners, including convicts and those undergoing trials.

The study, revealed that being dressed as a Muslim was enough to create suspicion. Muslim men donning a beard and a ‘topi‘ [skull cap] are often picked up by police for interrogation from public places like parks, railway stations and markets. Muslim women wearing a face veil or full-body burqa complained of facing hostility at markets, hospitals, and schools and found it hard to get a job.

The Mumbai attacks exposed the hideous face of India. Its Hindu populace attacked Pakistani actors and sportsmen visiting India. If that were not enough, Muslim Indian movie stars and matinee idols are being targeted by the hate campaign. If ever there was a bigoted society, it is in India.

On one hand, it boasts of secularism and being one of the biggest democracies in the world, on the other it is most intolerant of Muslims, Christians and other minorities. Top actors like Shabana Azmi have complained that despite entertaining Indian masses through their hard work in Indian cinema, they are not permitted to even purchase a house or property in Mumbai because of their religion.

“Slumdog Millionaire” exposes only the tip of the iceberg. India’s veneer of religious integration is but a farce as the storming of Sikh’s holiest shrine: Amritsar’s Golden Temple, massacre of Sikhs following Indira Gandhi’s assassination, razing of Babri Masjid, the organized ethnic cleansing of Muslims in Gujarat are all examples of Indian chauvinism.

The prejudice of Hindus is evident from its extremist Hindutva groups Sangh Parivar comprising Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Akhila Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Bajrang Dal and the newly revived Abhinav Bharat. Their contention is one and the same that Hindustan is for the Hindus. The Muslims and Christians of India were originally Hindus and were forcefully converted to Islam or Christianity.

This one film, Slumdog Millionnaire, is a microscopinc dissection of Indian through the eyes of foreigners, the British, and an enlightended Indian, the writer, who together undo the work of maybe tens of expensive image creation and promotion consultants hired by New Delhi over the past few years.

Hypocrisy of india

January 1, 2009

An article in The Guardian has exposed india’s hypocrytical stance on Pakistan with regard to the mumbai attacks and its own position on Tamil Tigers and their safe haven in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.

In the article titled ‘India’s double standards’, the writer says “while India blames Pakistan for inaction after Mumbai’s terror attacks, it turns a blind eye to a dangerous terror organization – the LTTE”.

The prime minister of india, manmohan singh has the nerves to say that, “There should be no double standards in the global fight against terrorism,” yet turns a blind eye to the support the army of his own country is giving to the tamil tigers in Sri Lanka…
